Third Annual Vets and Their Pets Event

Friday, November 8, 2019 (11:00 AM - 2:00 PM) (PST)

Description

Aviva Health is hosting the Third Annual Vets and Their Pets event honoring Douglas County veterans for their service in the armed forces Friday, November 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the health center's Roseburg location, 150 Kenneth Ford Drive near Costco. The day's festivities, supported in part by a generous donation from the Roseburg Walmart, include a free barbecue for veterans and their families, raffle, free haircuts from Angels Dreams Salon for people who have served, and a health information booth staffed by Aviva Health. For dogs in attendance, free grooming is offered by Sutherlin Grooming and Good Dog Bakery will serve up tasty treats for veterans' four-legged friends. For the Love of Paws Veterinary Clinic will also be on hand to provide vaccinations for dogs while supplies last. Additionally, representatives from Blue Zones Project, American Red Cross, NeighborWorks Umpqua, Umpqua Valley Disabilities Network, United Community Action Network, Douglas Public Health Network, Douglas County Employment Department, and Adapt will also join in the festivities to provide information on a variety of resources available throughout Douglas County for veterans and their families. Organizers say last year's celebration was a resounding success and an opportunity for Aviva Health to show its gratitude to individuals who served the country in the armed services. The event is also an important outreach vehicle to introduce veterans to the medical, dental and behavioral health services Aviva Health provides. 'Our Vets and Their Pets event is an important outreach vehicle for Aviva Health,' says KC Bolton, CEO of Aviva Health. 'Not only does it allow us the privilege of honoring members of our community who bravely and selflessly served our country, it gives us the opportunity to introduce the variety of clinical services and programs we offer to a vulnerable population who deserves the very best care.' In addition to honoring veterans in the community, it's also the organization's way of recognizing employees who have served. Among its close to 170 staff members, Aviva Health employs many military veterans. More information on the event is available on Aviva Health's Facebook page.
